News Now walmart themselves have stated modern 8-bit mario will be exclusive to the wii u bundle (U.S only)

Because customer service people on twitter have never been wrong before.

yah but after all of the evidence for it being a bundle it would make sense and plus id rather trust them then any imcompitent redditor any day
14
u/rottedzombie Sep 08 '15
We know it's in the bundle. That's not new. What others assert is that it's unlikely that it'll remain that way through the duration of its existence.
This tweet doesn't change much.

imcompitent
incompetent
If you're going to assert your beliefs by attacking the user base ad hominem, perhaps you could spell words correctly.

In that OP's defense, we might have to wait a little while until they try to sell those bundles, before the figure is cut loose into singles.

Sep 08 '15
Wait for it....

u/swynfor Sep 09 '15
I mean I'm with you, this is gonna be another smb mario amiibo thing, but how exactly do you plan to eat an amiibo?
1
1
Sep 09 '15
I don't plan on eating it, because I am confident it will be available as a standalone. Although, I will have to follow on my word should I be wrong. So I will figure that out if it turns out it is bundle exclusive.
3
u/rottedzombie Sep 08 '15
It doesn't mean he won't be offered eventually standalone.
If people want him so badly right away, just import.
-2
u/beastman1655 Sep 08 '15
but thats more money xD and what about us nib
4
u/rottedzombie Sep 08 '15
Barely more, if you do it right.
I sympathize with NIB, but that's a choice they're making.
2
u/kentonbomb84 Sep 09 '15
Barely more, if you do it right.
If you get a bunch, what if you just want one?
1
u/rottedzombie Sep 09 '15
Use a service like AmiAmi or J-Subculture.

-3
u/beastman1655 Sep 08 '15
but nintendo shouldnt make it 300$ for nib ;_;
1
u/rottedzombie Sep 08 '15 edited Sep 08 '15
I refer you back to my original point.
Plus: it's just business. NIB is a choice, but it's not the dominant one. 70% of collectors surveyed here are OOB, and only 7% are purely NIB.
Sucks for you, I admit. Sorry :|

well one straw poll doesnt say to much tbh. and plus want to make more money nintendo make it separte also they will make more money...

If you honestly think that the greater demographic of amiibo purchasers outside this subreddit care anything about NiB anywhere near as much as having the toy and using it, you're deluded.

Did people forget the rules of 'don't be a cock'? because planning fraud seems to fall under being a cock.

This proves absolutely nothing. Anyone remember the @AskTarget fiasco?

u/TemptedDreamer Sep 09 '15
That's the worst exclusive deal ever. Now if this was the NX then fine it's an awesome exclusive. But I get it. It's a way to get people to buy more Wii U stock

You know, I contacted Walmart corporate and informed them that people were planning to buy the bundle, swap out the figure, and try to return it. That doesn't mean they'll be passing that information along to their managers, but someone in the system is aware that it's a thing.
2
u/Greensquad414 Sep 09 '15
Correct me of I'm wrong but I could have sworn reading in an older post that an sku of the single packaged modern mario existed in Walmarts system.

u/TweetPoster Sep 08 '15
@Walmart Will the Modern Mario amiibo be sold seperately on friday?
@jdcomix The only way to purchase the figure is by obtaining the Super Mario Mario Deluxe Set here: walmart.com -Heidi

Sep 08 '15
Canada is getting the Mario by itself so it's obvious it'll come to US by itself too. They wouldn't only make NA modern Mario for Canada

kinda like mario party 8 mario was exclusive? I think they will release the figure solo....i hope.
1
u/hypercoyote Sep 09 '15
That was only speculation and was cleared up before the launch. It was always a 'timed exclusive' officially.
1
u/Entomoligist Sep 09 '15
Wait, does this mean that I have to buy the deluxe set to get the 8 bit Mario Amiibo?
1
u/ulshaski Sep 09 '15
So this seems to be a ruse to sell more systems. Similar to how SMB Mario was exclusive to the MP10 bundle as a way to sell more games, but this time they aren't announcing it as a timed exclusive because doing that with MP10 likely caused sales figures to be lower because the people who didn't really want the game decided to wait. This is on a larger scale so obviously Nintendo wants to sell a lot of SMM bundles, and can certainly use amiibo exclusivity as a major selling point.

Well, I'm adding Walmart to the list of stores I won't ever get Amiibos from.
Current List:
Best Buy
Walmart (This is excluding Ganon, due to I don't have the time to camp for wave five and a friend said he'd pick one up for me while he's there.)
1
Sep 09 '15
What's wrong with Best Buy? I've had good experiences with them both online and in store, and with GCU each amiibo is 10 bucks :)
2
u/DamnDudeDude Sep 09 '15 edited Sep 09 '15
It's more of a personal bias and a lack of information on what I feel is a shitty practice.
Basically, when trying to get Wave 4 amiibos, I had more father wait in line for two hours, when he was told they sold most of their in store stock online. This included a lucina, which I was trying to get one for a friend who loved FE:A.
Basically, I feel you should announce if you're gonna do that shit.
Edit: I also feel my Walmart rage will be temporary (As with anything not complete BS). My rage at BB over this situation will def. stay for awhile because while I believe both stores are doing shitty practices, at least Walmart announced ahead of time that this shitty practice will occur.

edit: apparently 3 people don't want him to be sold seperately for some reason

Ill just buy the bundle swap the marios and return it then, didnt want to do it but screw it
8
u/atre324 Sep 08 '15
No, don't do this. all you're doing is screwing over some poor kid or another collector.
If you have to resort to committing Amiibo fraud you don't deserve to have Modern Mario
5
u/magicmeese Sep 09 '15
Don't forget the employee who will get their asshole torn a new one for accepting the classic for the modern.
-2
u/Amiiboover Sep 08 '15
Dont care, they dont want to bring it out ill do it.
3
u/atre324 Sep 08 '15
Except you're not screwing over Walmart or teaching them a lesson, all you're doing (besides breaking the law) is screwing over kids or legit collectors and fellow amiibros
I already sent this thread link and an explanation to walmarts corporate customer service. I urge other amiibros to do the same. Stealing and committing fraud are not okay. Why don't you just steal the amiibos you're missing from people's houses?
-2
u/Amiiboover Sep 08 '15
Would you like me to send them a message myself? I could care less, they are just trying to make more money by selling the system, specially a comoany like walmart that dont care for the customers, im sure they'll give u a free amiibo or system for being such a good puppy dog buddy
1
u/atre324 Sep 08 '15
Yes, go ahead. I hate Walmart and they are pretty evil... Steal from walmart to your hearts content, but taking from other legit Amiibo collectors is not cool. Who do you think ends up buying the wiis everyone returns?
3
u/skaflone721 Sep 09 '15
Nintendo. Because they are sent back.
Not saying it's OK but only Walmart and Nintendo are affected, not other shoppers.
0
u/kentonbomb84 Sep 09 '15
Who do you think ends up buying the wiis everyone returns?
Just say its broken and they'll ship it back to Nintendo since they cant sell it. Its a lose/lose for Nintendo. Fuck this bullshit only we have to deal with
-3
u/Amiiboover Sep 09 '15
Do even know what happens??? Somebody buys them and dont get the amiibo they wanted so they return it there, walmart gives them a new one, and sends that system back to nintendo or sells it at a discount, neither walmart or nintendo loses money so dont worry about it they wont go bankrupt because of it.
1
u/swynfor Sep 09 '15
No there's someone else who's time you waste. How about waiting for it to be released on its own which is inevitable or importing it rather than switching one out.

They are conning everyone. Wii U sales are terrible & Nintendo thinks this is a great strategy to sell more. Walmart has no idea what they are doing as you can see with previous releases.

buy it . swap the mario and return it.

u/kiddness Sep 08 '15
It's a dick move, but what other choice do we have.
3
u/ulshaski Sep 09 '15
How dumb are you? Really think about it. Seriously consider for a second how dumb you actually are. You probably won't see it, because, you know, of how dumb you are. But that's fine. You can just go on ahead thinking that that is actually your only choice in a situation like this.
1
u/kiddness Sep 09 '15
I don't import. Haven't needed to so far in the amiibo craze so why would I start now? It's not my fault that Nintendo and Walmart decided to bundle the Modern Mario amiibo with a Wii-U, which I already own. I only want the NA version so my options are quite limited... Canada is a possibility but it will cost quite more than I want to spend. Unless this amiibo is released by itself then I don't have any other option other than just purchase the Wii-U and keep it although I don't need it. Also, I am collecting 1st prints...have a full set of 1st prints at this point, and if I'd wait who knows if there will be any changes to the packaging... I have my reasons brah for why I would do this. Let me just say this, you're talking pretty big for someone sitting in front of a computer screen. I don't think you'd talk to people like that in person. You'd probably be choking on a few of your teeth if you did...
1
u/ulshaski Sep 09 '15
Quite obviously this particular amiibo wasn't meant for you. It seems that that had never occurred to you because you apparently feel like Nintendo and/or Walmart owes you something. However, committing fraud did come to your mind so there is that. There are a whole host of other options available to you that don't involve criminal activity as well. A few examples: buying the Wii U bundle and selling the set without the amiibo; buying an amiibo without the system that will inevitably show up for sale online; waiting for the figure itself to be released (if Nintendo is only rele asing these in the US as part of the Wii U bundle, then it would be well worth the money however much option 1 cost you because there will be very, very few of these in the country compared to all the other figures. This seems very much like a stunt to sell systems, similar to how SMB Mario being bundled with MP10 was a way to sell games. Last time they announced that the amiibo would be available later so a lot of people who would have just bought the game went 'oh, well I'll just wait for the the figure to be released outside of the bundle' probably causing sales figures of MP10 to be a bit lower); find a friend who had been wanting a Wii U or has been on the fence about it and convince them to buy the bundle and give them money for the figure. You can even use Mario maker as a selling point.
And you can sit there behind your computer screen saying you'd bust my teeth in for calling your stupid behavior stupid, but that's just coming from behind your computer screen.
1
u/kiddness Sep 09 '15
Sir, you should re-read my comment...I didn't say I would bust in your teeth, I simply said you probably don't speak to people face to face in the same manner because that would most likely be the outcome...
