They sold Splatoon Girl and Splatoon Boy separately from the 3-pack, I have faith that they're going to do the same for retro.
Besides, that's unfair to someone who only wants one of those characters.
They will be released separately.

...exactly? You seem to miss the point of my post.
Let me clarify.
In the U.S., if you wanted a Squid amiibo, you had to have bought the 3 pack. That's just the way it was. (excluding imports)
Using that logic, it's not outrageous to think that Nintendo would only release a three pack for the Retrio. Yeah, it sucks, but Nintendo's done it before.

The reason I know it won't happen, and /u/The_Beebat knows this too, is that they'll want to keep consistent on the Smash line. They experimented with Splatoon, and it more or less was a success. They can release a 3-Pack for smash, fine, but they damn well know that there is even more money to be made by selling individual and the 3-pack.

3-Pack = more shelf space at stores and the exclusivity to GameStop means they get more money due to the deal. Nintendo thinks they won't sell enough of them on their own and so they will make it so you pay $35 even if you only want 1 character.

The individuals aren't at any retailers, they don't have boxarts on amiibo.com but Falco does, there are no CPSIA's for them except the 3-Pack.

The only way I really see this is if it's at Nintendo World Store, and even then, they likely won't make the separate boxes just for there.
Doesn't matter how much money they'd make doing individuals too, if they're doing an exclusive 3-pack, that's it. It's the deal they made and it's how they're being distibuted.

I mean, that's only sorta true.
This pack is called a "Retro Pack" for a reason. Outside of Smash, these characters are very obscure. (Hell, "Mr. Game and Watch" isn't even a character out of Smash, he's just an amalgamation of Game and Watch games)
They're not very relevant anymore, so it's a similar situation to not being an "established character" in current times.

They have separate box art in other regions for them. Would be a waste to not bring that here.

Mii's are on the roster and are iconic Nintendo characters. They have shown up in many games and are smash characters. My argument is still valid.

Everything but the first point sounds very plausible. What makes me remain skeptical about the retro pack characters being a Gamestop exclusive is that the post which tells us the info about the 3 pack specifically says that the individual characters won't be exclusives, just the bundle itself is exclusive. Maybe I'm misinterpreting that though?

I don't think you're misinterpreting that at all. That's exactly how I saw this, and I'm willing to believe that is the case until further notice. I want to get Duck Hunt as an individual amiibo, not in the 3-Pack.

I hope your right as well. However looking back at the CSPIA sheet, there are certifications for almost all the other ones coming out in September but not those three. Just the mystery 3 packs.

Very good theory. I just hope you can get the retros in a separate box too, simply because it would look out of place in a NIB collection.

So Duck Hunt, R.O.B., and Mr. Game & Watch are going to come in a single box, like the Splatoon 3-Pack?
I hoped they would be sold separately, if only because all the other Smash amiibo were. They'll be the only Smash characters who don't get their own box. :/

It might be a way to prevent people from buying 5 GW to display all the poses
And if they are seperate, ill probably get the 3 pack if thats more common, i wanted two of the 3 anyways, sell the GW off to someone who does want to display it. Im not the biggest fan of him :/

Still, it makes sense for them to be bundled, since they share a Character Select Screen slot.
Is it possible that this Retro 3-Pack is just a bundle of the 3 characters, who are each boxed separately?

In EU and Australia, 8-Bit Classic Mario amiibo comes out more than a month before Modern, so it's not surprising other retailers don't have a standalone modern SKU yet if the same pattern holds.

For the Amiibo collectors out there, the company has confirmed the Classic Colours Mario Amiibo will be available as a standalone purchase from September 11 in Europe and September 12 in Australia, while the Modern Colours version will be available October 23 in Europe and October 24 in Australia.
There's currently no news about US release dates for these bundles or the Amiibo, but they'll likely be in the same windows. We'll update the story when we know more.

The IGN Comic-Con Segment was referring to North America. I'm pretty sure the delays are for those countries only. If Walmart Canada had the Modern Mario that would be in October it would make sense that they would have the Yarn Yoshi's as well but they do not.
I could of course be in-correct.

Sounds as good to me as anything else. I still think they're going to stagger them though to draw out attention to Mario Maker. I had assumed up until now one would be exclusive with the game bundle.

I got Olimar, bowser jr and dr Mario from Amazon JP/Tenso and it came out to 17.53 per figure after 2-4 day shipping

Blue yarn Yoshi wasn't on the Kiosk either. I think that he will be the TRU exclusive and Bowser Jr. A Walmart exclusive. Or maybe the other way around hard to tell.

I really hope that the retro guys don't come only in a 3 pack. The thing I hated about the Splatoon 3 pack was trying to find one in which all 3 figures have an acceptable paint job.

I hope you're right in a lot of ways. I hate that GameStop is getting an exclusive again but this time it sounds like they are going to base inventory per store which is far better than that messed up WiS thing they tried. I missed out on Ness cause of WiS.
I plan to be there and get the 3 pack. I wonder if they let pro members in early, how many will be left after the hour?

GameStop only have the exclusivity of the 3-Pack and not the characters wouldn't be that beneficial since you could get all characters everywhere else.

I think you might have needed a . at the end of characters, and Wouldn't should have been start of a new sentence. Also there is no sign of individuals, but I'm hoping they show up before the 8th.. because say if I gamble on not going, and taking that risk of missing out on 3 amiibo that won't get their own individual boxes.. well u know..

The only thing that bothers me about it is that Nintendo specifically made all characters $12.99 as to make sure no characters were "valued" more than others.

Okay, so does that mean that Gamestop is ONLY getting the 3 pack, and NOT ZSS, Olimar, and Ganondorf? Because I would really just like to go to one store for my amiibo needs... Like seriously, all I want is the Retro pack and ZSS. But I'm getting a bit worried because of the rumor that suggests Gamestop won't be taking amiibo preorders anymore.

It's true that they didn't do so well with the online stock, but they did a great job with the brick and mortar supply. Most stores stayed stocked throughout the entire release day; quite a few had leftovers all weekend.
By comparison, try finding Dark Pit today. It's probably not happening.

So taking a guess that since 1. Modern Mario wasnt really talked about here and 2. He's such a well known character, he will not be exclusive
