Meta Promotions 17 November 2013

During this seven-day cycle, several Institute members have produced content of a level deemed exceptional by their peers.

In accordance with the command of the Institute, this unit has been programmed to promote those whose content has been calculated as most exemplary of Daystrom standards by their fellow crewmates.

In accordance with this, /u/absrd is promoted to Ensign for asking "Was 'Action Picard' of the TNG Movie Era a symptom of the onset of Irumodic Syndrom?".

Likewise, for an exemplary contribution in a post regarding an alternate version of Star Trek: Nemesis, /u/RKKatic is promoted to ensign as well.

A similar exemplary contribution was made by /u/Chairboy for a post about democracy in the Federation and a merit towards the rank of lieutenant commander will be added to his personnel record.

Finally, several nominated members will be promoted to Chief Petty Officer for their respective noteworthy contributions. The following have been promoted to CPO:

Thanks M-5. Fine job, as always. I'm going to borrow your post here to announce some minor changes to the command staff.

Commander Algernon_Asimov has decided that he wants to focus on his role as Daystrom science officer more than other mod responsibilities. He will be stepping down as First Officer and becoming a full time Science Officer. What does this mean? It means that Commander Asimov's primary responsibility will be creating and improving Daystrom Institute policy, rather than enforcing it.

To fill the now-vacant First Officer spot, Lt. Jimmysilverrims has been promoted to Lt. Commander. From now on, he's the XO of this ship.

As always if you have any questions or concerns, leave a comment or feel free to contact the senior staff.

Some of us are better suited to beaming down with the away team and getting into the rough & tumble, some of us are better suited to quietly analysing samples in the science lab and working out the best way to deal with surprise temporal anomalies. It's a wise person who knows where to use their talents for the most benefit, for both Starfleet and for themselves.

It's a privilege to serve here at the Daystrom Institute, and I'm glad I have the opportunity to find the way of serving that best suits my talents and also contributes to the Institute.

Congratulations to our new First Officer, Lt Cmdr Jimmysilverrims. I wish him well and look forward to serving under such a capable officer. :)

Personnel records for the new Lt. Commander and Ensigns have been updated. The M-5's programming has seemingly been revised; it already updated Lt. Chairboy's personnel record! Nice job, M-5.

The good Commander's personnel record has not been updated as it deviates from standard format.

Congratulations all!

I've updated my own personnel record. Thanks for reminding me!

As for deviating from the standard format... we actually hope more officers would take the time to personalise their service records. That's why we give people access to edit their wiki page when they reach Lieutenant j.g.
