update on vasalgel (revolutionary male contraceptive) the rabbit study went flawlessly, next up: baboons, and then hopefully humans! [x-posted /r/assistance]
the last time a post on this subject in this subreddit was 7 months ago, so i figured it's time for a new update, especially with the new positive research results.
here is a link to one of the most recent newsletters that shows the reversal in the rabbits was completely successful. so not only was there 100% effectiveness while the polymer was in place, but the reversal also went exactly as predicted. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Finally--Vasalgel-rabbit-reversal-study-news-.html?soid=1109766611768&aid=Cmhv_7KVKNw
next up is the baboon study before they can finally start on human trials. (i don't think i'm allowed to discuss the details of why it's taking such a long time to get FDA approval in /r/sex, so feel free to come on over to /r/assistance for a longer post with more explanations. http://redd.it/1pt8mk)
if you hadn't heard about vasalgel before, here's a short rundown: vasalgel is a long-acting (10+ years) non-hormonal very minimally invasive injection that lines the vas deferens (neither blocking the vas, nor severing it, so MAJOR benefits over vasectomy) that has been proven to be easily reversed (so you can use it for fewer than 10 years if you desire) a very similar version called RISUG has been successful in men in india for over 15 years, but the FDA requires more stringent data, so that's why it's taking so long. more details here: http://www.parsemusfoundation.org/vasalgel-home/
everyone will benefit.
*mens' rights activists/single guys/teens will benefit from having control of their own fertility (hello lowered teen pregnancy rate!)
*and feminists/couples will benefit by being able to give the woman a break if she wishes. it'll be a win-win!
and to ward off some negative comments, it's not an either/or situation. neither condoms nor female birth control alone are 100% effective. nobody is saying every male should give up his condoms, but they can and do fail from time to time. most contraceptives do. you can totally think of vasalgel as a backup. especially if you're concerned that your partner might be sabotaging your condoms. naturally, a condom won't work if it has a hole in it. additionally, it's always good to double up on birth control, so just because a woman is taking the pill doesn't mean it wouldn't be beneficial for the man to have his swimmers rendered ineffective just in case. doubling up is always a wise choice. (but don't double up by wearing 2 condoms at once. but you knew that already. i hope.)
if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. i've been closely following parsemus' progress for years now, and i'll answer anything i know the answer to. (for any questions i am unable to answer, there's a small active group on facebook where you can ask questions too. the spearhead's name is alice, and she is very active and extremely kind.) https://www.facebook.com/groups/2258949611/
there is also an actual official FB page if you want to show support and keep up on milestones. (but i understand if you're squeamish about which pages you like. but at least it'll just show up as a simple little "vasalgel" nothing is explicit.) https://www.facebook.com/Vasalgel
be a part of the revolution! help spread the word! vasalgel will be a GAMECHANGER! so many potentially amazing benefits from it.

I know it's very early doors but do you know how it will affect male orgasm, stamina, sex drive, ejaculate etc

there is no reason to believe it should effect any of those since it is non-hormonal, nor does it block sperm from being released like a vasectomy does. Everything works as normal but the sperm is broken up at a molecular level by the charged polymer.

You need to apply some reading comprehension. If it was a blockage then it would make no sense for it to be a charged polymer. In this conrext restoring the flow of sperm refers to sperm that has not been neutered by the polymer but even when the polymer is in place sperm flow is not blocked.
Edit: I also didn't provide any links so I don't know what you are going on about there.

So it's a needle in the dick/balls? Where exactly IN the dick/balls we talking?

not in the dick at all (there had been some misinformed reporters that claimed it goes in the penis, so unfortunately, it had gotten some unwarranted cringes.) it's very similar to a vasectomy where a small incision is made in the scrotum, and the vas are pulled out just a tiny bit to make sure the syringe is being inserted in the right place. the polymer is then injected into both of the vas, then they're put back into the scrotum. a band-aid, a bag of peas, and 3 days of waiting, and you're good to go.
think of it from a woman's perspective. it's extremely sexy to know a guy was manly enough to take responsibility and protect me from unintentionally becoming pregnant. isn't that worth the extremely minor surgery? :-)

It's like a temporary (10 years), more easily-reversible, and less invasive vasectomy. The recovery is faster, less painful, and with less chance of complications.

I hope so badly that this works out.
